Thank you for thinking of BFI to donate to on #GivingTuesday (November 28) this year!
Together with our partner, The Council for Education and Development (COPED), Burundi Friends International (BFI) aims to procure and provide goats to members of AGATEKA, which supports victims of violence and HIV/AIDS, while also promoting art, culture and poverty reduction in the province of Makamba in Burundi.
Women are critical to poverty reduction given the central role they play in agricultural production, raising children, and managing their households.
With your help, we will be able to provide a goat to each woman member of AGATEKA (meaning “Dignity” in Kirundi), and run workshops for them focused on animal husbandry skills and financial literacy, which will help them raise the goats in an optimal manner, and maximize productivity of fertilizer and milk.
Help us bring Empowerment, Economic Autonomy, and Dignity to the Women of Rural Makamba Province in Burundi.

How to Participate with BFI on #GivingTuesday on November 28, 2017
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a global movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy.
This year, #GivingTuesday will be observed on November 28, 2017.
Can I Donate Now?
#GivingTuesday is a global donation event that unites the world in the act of philanthropy. While we encourage all our patrons to participate on November 28, 2017, we are happy to receive your donation at your convenience. Each female goat costs approximately $100 (US) and your donation will make a difference in the life of a Buruni family. BFI and the women of AGATEKA hope you can help make The Goat Project a success!
